I don't quite get the question, do you mean it has to be Phoenix Wright characters (if so, then yes), or do you mean that it has to has a same atmosphere as the series (if so, then nope =))?
You could, but it may go to or against your advantage, depending how you do this ^^ I'll be judging based on how well you can tell this story without words
